Companion Piece to Guest from the Future

A documentary film, directed by Semyon Aranovitch, based on excerpts from the poet’s biography and the memoirs of the writer Lidiya Chukovskaya. The footage of Akhmatova’s funeral, locked away for 20 years, is seen for the first time, mixed with candid glimpses of Soviet leaders and Akhmatova’s important Russian literary counterparts.
