Founded in 1926, the Martha Graham Dance Company is the oldest and most influential dance company in America and "one of the great companies of the world." (New York Times).
In one of the most important creative collaborations in the history of American performing arts, Martha Graham tapped her rural roots on her grandmother’s Pennsylvania farm, while Graham’s "especially American" qualities inspired Aaron Copland to compose one of the best-loved works of 20th-century American music, with its variations on the Shaker hymn, Simple Gifts." This work will be accompanied by a dramatic reading of Graham/Copland letters by the noted actress and Bard alumna Blythe Danner. Three performances: Friday, July 8, 8:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 8:00 pm Sunday, July 10, 3:00 pm Tickets: $55, $40, $25 All seats reserved
