Max Reinhardt’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1935), the only complete surviving film made by one of the most important European directors of the 20th century, features a soundtrack that makes use of the famous setting by Wagner’s great “rival,” Felix Mendelssohn.
This film is part of the Politics, Theater, and Wagner Film Festival.
