Composed in the spirit of the Baroque masters, Elijah displays Felix Mendelssohn’s mastery of craft and formal rigor, combining his preoccupation with religious expression with his keen interest in early music. Featuring the members of the Bard College Conservatory Orchestra and the American Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leon Botstein, this performance of Elijah features the "marvelously pure-toned and eloquent" (Boston Globe) baritone Sanford Sylvan as Elijah. Joining Sylvan on stage are the singers of the Bard Graduate Vocal Arts Program, Bard College Chamber Singers, and the Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir.
Suggested Donation: $20 orchestra seating; $15 parterre/first balcony; minimum donation $5.
