Cynthia Hopkins received the 2007 Alpert Award in Theater for her work as a writer, composer, musician, and performer of music and theater projects with her band, Gloria Deluxe. Formed in 1999, the band has played dates at such New York City venues as the Bowery Ballroom, Joe’s Pub, Tonic, and Pete’s Candy Store, as well as venues far outside the city such as MASS MoCA, where they opened a show for Patti Smith. See them at the Spiegeltent this summer, where they will be fresh from a performance at St. Ann’s Warehouse.
