Berlin: Symphony of a Great City, 1927; and Opus I–IV, 1921–25
Directed by Walter Ruttmann
One of the most influential films of the 1920s, this documentary is a vast panorama of modern urban life. This screening will be preceded by four short abstract films that were pioneering works of the European avant-garde. Silent; German text (very little text). Berlin: 65 minutes. Opus I–IV: 27 minutes total.
Once again, Bard SummerScape is pleased to present all titles on 35mm film (whenever possible). All silent films have live piano accompaniment.
