"Unique, intoxicating, wild and wonderful . . . enter the Spiegeltent—the tent of dreams—and you will never be the same again"
Edinburgh Fringe Magazine

This movable feast of exotic delights returns to SummerScape for a third triumphal summer. Since the late 19th century, the Spiegeltent ("Mirror Tent") has been a beloved tradition in Belgium and throughout Europe. It is a marvel of engineering, a glittering mirrored pavilion composed of 3,000 detachable, portable parts, with an eye-filling interior of carved wood surfaces, a parquet floor, beveled mirrors, stained-glass windows, and fulsome velvet canopies. For families or couples, the Spiegeltent affords a sumptuous and magical environment to enjoy dance, circus acts, or cabaret. In recent years, ambitious producers in the United States and Australia have welcomed an edgier generation of sexy neocabaret stars and wildly irreverent acrobats, jugglers, and performance artists.

Conveniently located next to the Fisher Center, the Spiegeltent offers an exciting variety of events: a reimagined multimedia version of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, with art by U2’s Bono; the composer’s forgotten ballet Trapèze; a return engagement by the wacky Bindlestiff Family Cirkus; the New Albion new music festival; and SpiegelMaestro Nik Quaife.

Visitors to SummerScape can enjoy the Spiegeltent before or after performances in the Fisher Center, stopping for a brew or a bite to eat. After performances, audiences can linger to meet the artists over beer or wine at the bar.

Whether as a pleasant weekend trip for the family or a romantic date destination, the Spiegeltent offers a perfect nightcap after a day of opera, concerts, or theater.
