Five remarkable emerging jazz artists honor Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington’s most long-standing collaborator, striving to recreate “The Ellington Effect”: his unrivaled ability to combine his players’ “distinctive tone color and set of emotions” to produce a “third thing.”
Led by Walking Distance’s Caleb Curtis on saxophone, the evening features Marquis Hill, trumpet; Mike Fahie, trombone; Adam Coté, bass; and Jeremy Siskind, piano, in a concert straight out of big-band heaven.
