Don Juan in Prague An Opera (in Italian and English). Over 200 years have passed since, on the stage of Prague's Estates Theater, Mozart's Don Giovanni first decided to forsake the pleasures of the flesh and descend into a blazing hell. Like Mozart, artists of all ages and nationalities, including the Czech Leosš Janáček, have been drawn to the conquests of Don Juan and his shocking refusal of redemption. The premiere of this stunning new production of Mozart's opera features Czech avant-garde violinist, singer, and film star Iva Bittová, bringing a mixture of Gypsy blood and classical training to the role of the passionate Donna Elvira. With computer-driven arrangements of Mozart's Prague score by New Zealand composer Matthew Suttor, and featuring the New York City string quartet Ethel, this production—conceived, adapted, and directed by award-winning director David Chambers—promises to shed new light, and sound, on the legendary story and music of Don Giovanni. Sung by a cast of eight (in Italian and English), featuring Iva Bittová. Adapted and directed by David Chambers Music adaptations by Matthew Suttor (based on Don Giovanni by W. A. Mozart) David Levi, music director Darcy Scanlin, scenic designer Chris Parry, lighting designer David Budries, sound designer Tickets $35
