Garnering praise from NPR Music, Variety, The Guardian, and Barack Obama for her 2022 album Breaking the Thermometer, multi-instrumentalist Leyla McCalla’s music illuminates the Black roots of American culture. McCalla’s music is at once earthy, elegant, soulful, and witty—it vibrates with three centuries of history, blending her New Orleans influences with Haitian rhythms on cello, banjo & guitar—yet also feels strikingly fresh, distinctive, and contemporary.
This summer, join us for a five-concert series in the Spiegeltent, Bluegrass on Hudson, celebrating the contemporary bluegrass and roots music of America, featuring the next generation of talent carrying the tradition forward for a new time.
Presented in association with Fourth Stream House Concerts.
