Multiple Grammy-winning conductor JoAnn Falletta, longtime music director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, has been a friend of TŌN’s from our very first season. This concert marks her fifth appearance with the orchestra. She conducts Rachmaninoff’s imaginative Symphony No. 3, written over two summers at the composer’s Swiss villa nearly 30 years after his previous symphony. Also on the program are Samuel Barber’s nostalgic song Knoxville: Summer of 1915, which will be performed by Bibi Nguyen, a winner of the 2025 Bard Conservatory Concerto Competition; and Joaquin Turina’s buoyant Danzas fantásticas, inspired by the novel La orgía (The Orgy) by José Más.
