Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle

Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle

75th Anniversary Season

The Hudson Valley Chamber Music Circle (HVCMC) was founded in 1950 by Helen Hull, joined by Helen Hoyt and Emilie Borak, who set out to make the finest chamber music accessible to their friends and neighbors in the Hudson Valley.  In 1979, HVCMC formed a formal partnership as an independent program affiliated with Bard College.  Since then, its audience has expanded to include music lovers from all over the Hudson Valley, as well as neighboring states.

The 2025 season celebrates the Circle’s diamond jubilee as well as the 25th anniversary of Jaime Laredo and Sharon Robinson as Artistic Directors.  Under their leadership, HVCMC continues its mission to showcase the finest performances of chamber music works from a wide-ranging repertory while striving to promote and support its performers and to educate, entertain, and expand its audiences.

2025 June Concert Series

HVCMC’s signature event is its June Concert Series, three early summer performances held in Bard’s lovely and acoustically exceptional Olin Hall with internationally acclaimed musicians. World-class ensembles have included the Emerson and Juilliard String Quartets, as well as the Daedalus, Tokyo, and Miami String Quartets. More recent programs have featured ensembles such as the Calidore String Quartet, recipients of the inaugural, prestigious M-Prize for chamber music; Trio Con Brio of Copenhagen; Sō Percussion; and classical guitarist Sharon Isbin.
